Ibn saud

His family, with its regular seat at Riyadh in the Nejd [2], were the traditional leaders of the ultraorthodox Wahhabi [3] movement in Islam. ↑ Ibn Saud, meaning son of Saud (see Arabic name), was a sort of title borne by previous heads of the House of Saud, similar to a Scottish clan chief's title of "the MacGregor" or "the MacDougall". When used without comment it refers solely to Abdul-Aziz, although prior to the capture of Riyadh in 1902 it referred to his father, Abdul Rahman ( Lacey 1982 , pp. 15, 65). Ibn Saud (15 January 1875-9 November 1953) was King of Nejd from 1902 to 1932 and King of Saudi Arabia from 23 September 1932 to 9 Novembe 1953, preceding Saud of Saudi Arabia.
